Wow! I cannot believe how fast the end of the year is approaching! It sure seems like we just started and here we are with a few short weeks left in the school year.
Congratulations to Wyatt on being our orange card winner this week!
This week we will take the End of the Year PARCC testing on Monday and Tuesday. We only have three tests, two Math and one Reading. We will take both Math on Monday morning and the Reading on Tuesday afternoon.
We are finishing up our Science Unit C Chapter 1 and will take the Science test on Friday. The test will be over landforms, earthquakes, volcanoes and how the earth's surface changes over time. In Social Studies, we will finish up our chapter on traveling west this week and will test next week. Our last unit of study will be over American Government.
In Math, we spent the last week covering telling time to the minute and time intervals (or elapsed time). We will begin covering charts and data this week including bar graphs, pictographs, tally tables and frequency tables.
We began our novel unit Chocolate Fever last week in Reading. The students love the book so far and are doing fabulous with our reading group discussions. They really are doing an awesome job of thinking outside the box! Love hearing their opinions and reasoning skills!
In Language, we are working on the parts of a friendly letter and will also begin working on placing commas in the proper place in addresses and sentences.
We are getting so excited for summer to arrive! I plan to enjoy every minute of the last few weeks with the kiddos! Have a great week!
