Conferences note were sent home this Friday with the students. I am trying to schedule all of my conferences on Thursday from 3pm-9pm. If none of those times work for you, I would be happy to schedule a conference at another time during that week that will fit your schedule. There is also a questionnaire attached that I would like for you to fill out and return by October 20th, so that I can answer any questions that you may have at this time! Thank you so much and I look forward to meeting with you and discussing your child's progress!
We wrapped up our first chapter in our new Common Core Math series and we have moved on to Chapter 2. We are learning about addition properties and using place value to add. In Science we are studying the parts of a flower. We will be having a quiz over the parts of the flower on October 14. A study guide has been sent home and we will also be practicing in the computer lab for the next week. We are finishing our United States unit in social studies in the next two weeks as we finish our quizzes of the state abbreviations in the next few weeks as well.
In Reading, we are beginning to learn about cause and effect, drawing conclusions and antonyms and synonyms. We have realized that there are answers to some questions that are not "right there" in the story, but we have to use our knowledge and the information that the book gives us to come up with the answer.
In Language, we are discussing singular and plural nouns and their spellings. We just have one question...who came up with all these rules and why aren't they consistent? The English language can be so hard to learn sometimes! (:
We had a blast for Homecoming Week and we are looking forward to a three day weekend next week! Just a reminder, we will be dismissing at 11am on October 10th for School Improvement and No School on Monday for Columbus Day. Enjoy your week!
