Congrats to our orange card winner of the week, Braidy! Also, congratulations to our Golden Paw winner last week, Bryce! Love seeing our students making such great choices!
Last Friday, we got to meet a real, live race car driver! Justin Allgaier visited all three schools and brought his race car...yes, the same race car that he will be racing at Daytona in a few weeks! How cool is that? It was so cool to see a race car up close and to hear Justin's story of how teamwork helped him to be able to work in his dream job! What an inspiration to us all!
This week, we will continue our practice of multiplication in Math. Please keep practicing those multiplication facts at home. We will have a Science test on Monday, and then start a new chapter on changing environments. In Social Studies, we will begin studying the plains indians, including the Cheyenne tribe.
We will be working on writing this week in Language and will continuing to study generalizations, figurative language, sequencing and suffixes in Reading.
We have begun to prepare for the PARCC test, which will begin on March 9. Last week, we went to the computer lab to learn all about the mechanics of how to take the test online, as the entire test will be administered online this year. The test is presented in several forms, so we are practicing how to maneuver our way around the test. It will definitely be a learning experience for the students and myself this year.
Don't forget about the early dismissal on Friday. We will be dismissing at 11am for school improvement. We will also be holding our Valentine's Party on Friday, since Valentine's Day is on Saturday this year. You may start sending in the valentines on Monday. I will have bags for the students to place the valentines.
We are continuing our fundraiser for "Pennies for Patients". The students may bring in loose change to donate to help with finding a cure for childhood leukemia. We have already collected quite a bit of change! This fundraiser will continue for the next two weeks.
Have a great week and enjoy the beautiful weather we are experiencing this weekend!
