We are already into our third week of the second nine weeks and the holiday season is quickly approaching! Where does the time go?
This week we will have a unit test in Reading. This will involve reading three stories and answering questions reviewing all the skills we have covered the last five weeks. There will also be a listening part and a study skills part covering dictionary and encyclopedia skills. We will be reviewing in class for the test on Tuesday and take the test on Wednesday.
In Science we continue to study animal babies and the parts of an egg, and then we will continue to study spiders and insects. We have discussed spiders in depth over the last few weeks in our reading book, Scholastic News and now Science. We could probably tell you all you ever needed to know about spiders but were afraid to ask!
Social Studies brings the discussion of oceans, coasts and how landforms are created.
In Math, we continue to work on rounding and addition, adding three digit addition to the mix. We will be approaching a chapter test in the next few weeks. In Language, we will be testing over nouns and have begun the study of pronouns. The students are doing very well identifying these two parts of speech.
We have added dictation sentences to our spelling tests. We are starting with two dictation sentences on Thursday and the rest of the test on Friday. These sentences are written sight unseen, to practice applying what they know to writing and spelling. This will also be where I will take a handwriting grade.
We will begin a web quest on Thanksgiving this week in the Computer Lab. This will take us about three weeks to complete.
Don't hesitate to email, text, or call me if you have any questions! Have a great week!
