Math
Math is a very important part of our day. This year will be our fourth year using a program called My Math. My Math was written specifically for the Common Core State Standards that the state of Illinois has adopted as standards of teaching. The Common Core Standards are a set of universal standards for mathematics to be used by all the states. They seek to develop both the students' mathematical understanding and their procedural skills so that they may be fully prepared for the future in a global economy.
The Common Core Math Standards are divided into five domains: Number and Operations in Base Ten, Operations and Algebraic Thinking, Number and Operations - Fractions, Measurement and Data, and Geometry.
One of the really cool things about this program is that fact that it is online. Parents and students will be able to access lessons, practice pages, plus tutorials to help when needed. Everything parents needs to help their students succeed will all be at their fingertips! It contains hundreds of lessons, activities, manipulatives, games, animations, and videos! This program promises to keep students actively engaged as well as personalizing the learning!
