We made it through three days this week!! I really hope Mother Nature allows us to go all 5 next week, but I don't think I will hold my breath to see!
Congratulations to Mia for making good choices and being our orange card winner this week! The snow days have thrown our schedule off as far as our Reading units. The quizzes will now be on Tuesday for a while. This week we will wrap up our Money chapter in Math and our study of the Cheyenne Indians in Social Studies. For the next month in Math, we will be covering the concepts that we have left to cover before we take the ISAT tests in March. We may not always finish the entire chapter, but we will cover all the important concepts we need to cover for the children to be successful on the ISATS. In Science, we remain on the topic of changing enviroments and endangered animals, and in Language we are discussing suffixes and will add prefixes in the coming weeks. Please make sure your child is practicing their multiplication facts for 10 minutes a night. This can be done by using computer games, flash cards, or even regular playing cards. It is soooo important that your child learns these facts as we are using them almost every day. Thank you for your help! Mrs. Smith will be finishing up her lessons on internet safety this week and Mrs. Crist will be in our classroom on Tuesday to discuss Farm Machinery. Mrs. Simpson (our student teacher) is going to start teaching a reading group and will be taking over the spelling lessons. Let's all hope that our week is a full, productive week!

Another week of snow and cold makes us all longing for the warmer days of spring and summer. I just hope that it comes sooner than later!
Well, the two days of school this week both seemed like a Monday. I would love to get in one solid week of school. (: On Wednesday, we did get to meet our new student teacher, Jamie Simpson, who will be with us until the middle of May. She will be sending home an informational letter about herself soon. We are so excited to have her in our classroom! This will be the week to finish several units. We will be finishing up our story "The Terrible Eek" and also reading "In My Family" for Reading. In Math, we will complete our Money Chapter and start covering the Math concepts we will need to know before ISATs. Social Studies will bring a test over the Plains or Cheyenne Indians and we will have our weekly Spelling and dictation test on Friday. Tiger Time will also begin again this week with a weekly rotation covering the writing portion and math skills appearing on the ISATs. Mrs. Smith will also be working with us this week, teaching the ins and outs of internet safety. We will also begin our practice for the ISATs, getting used to the format and learning to work efficiently in a certain time frame. Join me in hoping this week will be a full five day, productive and fun week! Please make sure your child is practicing their multiplication facts. 10 minutes per night will help tremendously in learning these facts! It is important the students know these facts as we will be using them for many of our math skills this semester. If you need access to flashcards, please let me know and I will get a set in your child's hands. Thank you for your help!
